4 things your should definitely know

Ardbeg has had a long history dating back to the establishment of the distillery in 1815. As we anticipated, it was only sometimes possible to find a high-quality single malt whenever you went into your neighbourhood store. The distillery experienced closures and astonishingly brief periods of small-batch blend-focused distillation during the 1980s and 1990s. Glenmorangie's 1997 takeover of the company is mainly responsible for the Ardbeg we know today. The twenty years that have passed since then, oy, are we starting to feel old yet?, have transformed Ardbeg into a dominant Islay single malt.

In addition to high-end bottlings and a series of limited releases that come and go pretty annually, Ardbeg provides a trio of single malts under the umbrella of their Ultimate Range. The 10 Years Old, Uigeadail, and Corryvreckan, are included in this collection.

The Ardbeg Committee was the first to release Corryvreckan. Although the original tan-labelled edition is prized by collectors today, many Ardbeg fans still harbour resentment toward contemporary Corryvreckan for replacing their cherished Airigh Nam Beist. Living in the moment and making significant investments in the brands you value most are the lessons to be drawn from the rapid ups and downs of the current Scotch whisky market. Nothing lasts forever, after all. Enough musings on a lineup change. What's inside that bottle?

Corryvreckan may be the best example of how closely Ardbeg holds its cards with most of its recent and current releases. This kind of Ardbeg features plenty of text on the box that holds each dark green bottle. In reality, this item is covered in words, and many of these words have a lovely, dramatic quality. Our intrepid sipper is motivated by their daring after reading the box because the label presents this single malt as an adventure in and of itself. The name of the dram is derived from a legendary whirlpool that may be found just to the north of Jura, Islay's neighbouring island, according to details.

While skillfully avoiding giving away too much information about the whisky, the text decorating the box continues to meander through stories of bravery. Age and cask selection are not mentioned. Corryvreckan is a single malt Scotch whiskey from Islay that is bottled at 57.1% alcohol by volume, according to Ardbeg, and that's about all. Other Ultimate Range products, like Uigeadail, either have age declarations (10 Years Old) or, at the very least, information on cask selection and non-chill filtering. Contrary to this, Corryvreckan.

Ardbeg Corryvreckan Tasting Notes

Important Information: 57.1% ABV (114.2 proof), no age statements, 100% malted barley, priced at $178 per bottle.

It appears like orange tea and has smooth legs.

Buttery, smokey, and vegetable aromas are present at first sniff. The dram significantly expands as it rests, and the salt makes a significant appearance here. Brine, nutritious yeast-topped oven-dried seaweed chips, sweet vanilla cream, mint leaves, leather, peat, and lemon bars.

Palate: Sweet at first, then salt and smoke take over in a graceful flow. Light, smooth texture that melts on the tongue like cotton candy. Lemon cake, regular salt and pepper, a little overbaked croissant, soy sauce, and a faint scent of bacon. A little fiery in the end. A brassiness is present and lingers after, waking up the back of the palate—toffee, smoke, and cinnamon sugar flavours that linger.

Ardbeg Corryvreckan is definitely a must-try. Given all this information on it, it will be a pity if you do not. Rest assured that Cellarbration provides the best prices available for our customers.
