WHISKY

A distilled spirit with an amber tint, typically spelt in two different ways. Whisky and whiskey are the same alcoholic beverage prepared from distilled grain and aged on wood, according to the layman. In certain quarters, whiskey refers to any alcoholic beverage produced anywhere on the planet. Whiskey (spelled with a "e") is most often found in Ireland and the United States. The name is derived from the Gaelic expression uisce beatha, which means "life's water." Whisky may be made in many ways. Water, yeast, and malted barley are the main ingredients. To manufacture the final whiskey, you can add maize, wheat, oats, or rye. The name of the completed product varies depending on the place of origin, grain proportion, and if the whiskey originates from a single distillery.
