History
In the early 19th century, whiskies were distilled exclusively by monks; and later turned to production in the homes of regular Scots when the monasteries were dissolved. However, the taste of these whiskies were always inconsistent in quality and flavours. Johnnie Walker, a grocer of wines and spirits in Kilmarnock decided to blend his own whisky in order to sell a consistent quality and flavour whisky. He established a brand selling blended malt whiskies by using his name on labels, and is one of the earliest premium whisky blends created in the 19th century.
