Bruichladdich Yellow Submarine 14 Year Old
A cult Bruichladdich expression returns for the distillery's 25th anniversary. This 14 Year Old unpeated Islay single malt combines rich crème brûlée, toasted hazelnut and warm spice with fresh citrus, orchard fruit and a subtle touch of sea salt.
Bruichladdich Yellow Submarine is the latest chapter in one of the distillery's most iconic cult bottlings. Originally inspired by the discovery of a remote-controlled yellow submarine off the coast of Islay, this limited release revisits the spirit of the original Yellow Submarine while introducing a new cask combination.
Matured for 14 years in a blend of first-fill bourbon barrels and Bordeaux red wine casks, the whisky delivers a luxurious and layered character. The nose opens with honeyed oats, buttery shortbread, toasted hazelnuts and praline, complemented by nutmeg, ginger and pink peppercorn.
On the palate, fresh orange zest, honeysuckle, orange blossom, crisp apple and pear lead into rich crème brûlée. A subtle touch of sea salt provides a distinctly maritime character, despite the whisky being made from unpeated malt.
The finish is long and velvety, with honeyed sweetness, warming spice and toasted hazelnut lingering beautifully. Bottled at a robust 54.2% ABV, this is a distinctive and collectible expression for fans of Bruichladdich and experimental Islay whisky.
