Malibu Coconut Rum Facts

Malibu coconut rum is actually a coconut-flavored liqueur made with rum. Defined as a liqueur and not a spirit due to its high sugar content and low alcohol levels of 21% ABV. Typical rum has no sugar and a 40% ABV.

Malibu coconut rum was introduced in 1982 for bartenders to make the Pia Colada more easily. It's the most popular brand on the market, next to Bacardi and Captain Morgan.

Malibu Sunset

Ingredients

- Ice cubes
- Pineapple-orange juice
- Malibu coconut rum
- Grenadine syrup
- Maraschino cherries
- Pineapple and / or orange slices (for garnishing) 

Directions

1. Pour Malibu Coconut Rum together with the pineapple-orange juice in an-ice filled glass. They should mix well as they are of the same density.
   
2. Gently pour the grenadine syrup in the middle of the drink and watch it sink to down.
   
3. Carefully and slowly stir once, which will mix everything together and give a gradient effect. Voilà! You have yourself a Malibu Sunset.

Malibu Bay Breeze

Ingredients

- Ice cubes
- Malibu coconut rum
- Pineapple juice
- Cranberry juice
- A slice of lime
- Maraschino cherry
- A pineapple wedge

Directions

1. Fill a highball glass with ice
   
2. Add rum and pineapple juice, then top with cranberry juice.
   
3. Serve garnished with a lime slice, maraschino cherry, and pineapple wedge. Stir before enjoying.
