Hakushu 12 Japanese single malt whisky is crafted at the Hakushu distillery, owned by Suntory. The first Hakushu distillery was established in 1973 and is located in the woods of Mt. Kaikomagatake. The components are a non-peated whisky aged in American oak, a non-peated whisky aged in ex-sherry/Spanish Oak, and a peated whisky aged in American oak. As such, the peat level goes down to a mild 7-9 ppm. The fresh and foresty flavor character, is a symbolic representation of its origin.
Toasted barley, seed & nut loaf, chopped almonds and a little bit of barrel char. Hints of milk chocolate and dried grass bring sweetness.
Fruity, rich, herbaceous and grassy, with a hint of smokiness.
Medium, with cinnamon and a dash of sweetness.
